Why create a blog?

Why should I make a blog? Well, I don't know. I never really thought of making a blog ,until I realized how unique my story is. I am Black guy from Alaska, about to travel all the way into the heart of the south. When most people think of Alaska, images of ice covered tundra, Eskimos, and polar bears come to mind. I've been asked by inhabitants of the continental U.S or the "Lower 48" ,as Alaskans call it, some of the most ridiculous questions such as: "Do you live in Igloos?" "Do you mush dogs to school?" "Do you have a pet moose?" "Are you the only black person up there?" and the best is "Do you have snow days?"
In recent years, a certain female vice president candidate has become the face of our state. A Black teenager graduating with honors from high school is the last thing people would think of. Yes, I have mushed dogs and I have prayed for snow days ,to no avail, but that's about it. So this blog is a tool to convey my story and maybe dispense with some Alaska stereotypes. Even if that means, I have to stop  telling people I ride a polar bear to school.
